The incident occurred amidst heightened public scrutiny of the British Royal Family member following the release of a Netflix movie detailing a controversial interview, as Marca reports. This incident this has not helped to alleviate any tension surrounding the current troublesome public image of Prince Andrew.
The royal was driving along the Long Walk on the Windsor estate. Just after departing the crown estate, a dark-colored dog dashed directly in front of his car. The pup was so close that Prince Andrew was unable to see it.
Suddenly, pedestrians, including the dog’s owner, waved urgently to catch his attention. However, it was Prince Andrew’s bodyguard who alerted him just in time, allowing the royal to brake and avoid hitting the dog.
Subsequently, the owner seemed embarrassed while retrieving the dog, as per Metro. Nevertheless, Prince Andrew appeared to handle the situation with good humor, smiling and waving afterward.
A witness to the incident recounted, “Andrew’s bodyguard saw the people frantically waving in the nick of time. Everyone was laughing when they saw who was driving the Range Rover.”
According to Vanity Fair, this incident resembled a scene in the Netflix film “Scoop,” which was released just one day before.
In one of the film’s scenes, Gillian Anderson portrays BBC Newsnight interviewer Emily Maitlis, who walks her dog, mirroring her real-life Whippet, Moody. Unable to catch the swift Whippet, Maitlis is relieved when it returns, prompting a bystander to share wisdom about patience.
This moment becomes pivotal for Maitlis. It influences her approach to the infamous 2019 interview with Prince Andrew regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
