In a disturbing incident that took place in Southampton, a man entrusted with the care of a dog attempted inappropriate sexual contact with the pet. The heinous act, captured on camera, was observed by the minor daughter of the pet owner leading to the dog sitter’s capture and trial.
Graham Robinson, the dog sitter in question, was seen trying to have sex with a six-year-old Great Dane.
Robinson, 52, from Hythe, Hampshire, U.K., was under the belief that the Southampton home he was in charge of did not have surveillance. He was oblivious to the fact that the homeowner had installed a security camera to keep an eye on their property during their absence.
In a disturbing turn of events, the homeowner’s daughter, a minor aged 12, was the one who happened upon the distasteful scene, as reported by the Daily Mail. She was watching the footage on her mobile when she saw Robinson’s disgraceful actions with the dog.
As the court heard, the owners set the camera to continuously record to monitor the home. Their discovery led to shock and distress when they saw the defendant engaging in an indecent act with the pet. As per prosecutor Tom Wilkins, the act was “plainly” visible on the video footage.
Robinson confessed to the charges of attempted sexual penetration with a living animal. His excuse, as told to the probation service, was that he was under the influence of alcohol and cannabis on the day of the incident.
Speaking for himself in court, a remorseful Robinson expressed his shock at his actions. However, Judge Nicholas Rowland regarded Robinson’s deeds as a significant breach of trust, condemning it as “an abomination.”
While the judge was close to passing a sentence of imprisonment, he eventually settled for a two-year community order. This involves Robinson completing 200 hours of unpaid work and 40 days of rehabilitation activity.
