Andy Cohen recently reunited with his former rescue dog, Wacha. The “Watch What Happens Live” host shared pics of the special visit on Instagram.
A brief history of Andy Cohen and his former rescue dog
Andy Cohen rehomed the Beagle–Foxhound mix in May 2020. According to People, the canine companion exhibited “some occasional random signs of aggression” that put Cohen’s son, Benjamin Allen, at risk.
“When he came into my life, my world changed,” Cohen shared that year on Instagram. “Over the nearly seven years that I’ve been blessed to have Wacha in my life, we have worked to address some occasional random signs of aggression. No effort was spared in the attempt to help Wacha feel adjusted.”
But after much consultation with professionals, Cohen came to the conclusion that “my home is simply not a good place for him.” In an Instagram post on Wednesday, however, it was all puppy love. “Saw an old friend yesterday. It was heaven,” Cohen captioned a pair of pics of himself snuggling with the adorable pup.
Wacha found a forever home with a family he stayed with previously while Cohen was traveling. “He is thriving,” Cohen said of his former pup. “We still see each other, but a piece of my heart is gone.”
The duo gets together on occasion, for walks or cuddles. As Cohen shared on SiriusXM’s “Radio Andy” show, “Wacha is going to stay in my life — that’s what I want you guys to know — this dog is going to stay in my life. He is a part of my life. It’s just not anything I could have imagined would happen, but it did.”
